Because of the high level of ground water in the Munster area, larger farms are surrounded by a wide trench. These gullies were completely silted up when the estate was acquired, so NaturaGart dredged them.
This has created a very attractive system of canals.
As opposed to the old installations, the gullies are now divided into reservoirs and have partially been sealed with clay. This way the ground water level drops much slower in summer.
The estate's trench in the south, adjacent to the woodland area: The gully looks like a quiet forest lake.
In the south we have planted the gully with traditional shorn willows.
Close to the parking area, the gully verges on the old walls.
At the cafeteria the gully had silted up completely. Today there is a liner pond.
At the old granary it still looks the same as 300 years ago.
